Current projects

So I am slowly getting through my list of things to knit before the baby comes. I have made some progress on the Baby Yeti.

And the Sleep Sack.

And here is my latest project: a Curly Purly Soaker

Finally we have the finished pic's of the toy I knitted for my friend's little boy. I didn't want to post them last time and risk ruining the surprise.

A surprise for a friend

So I started and finished this project in record time for a friend of mine to whom I am sending a certain pair of longies .
I am also working on a Baby Yeti sweater for our little bundle of joy and a little sleepsack/gown from this pattern. The purple-ish one is the baby yeti and the yellow is the gown.

What I am working on now

A few hibernating projects and a couple new ones. I am itching to cast on another pair of felted slippers or a cute baby sweater but I am trying to discipline myself to finish at least a couple of the projects I have already started.

First is a pair of newborn sized longies from the Sheepy Pants pattern:

Next is the sweater I started ages ago, I am done with the first panel and about half way done with the second one. It really is a quick and pleasurable knit, it's just that I start to feel guilty knitting for myself when I have projects for others to finish up.

Then is this baby hat made from lovely yellow and green merino sock yarn. I have about 2 inches of it knitted and it shouldn't take long to finish.

Some little socks for my niece's first birthday coming up at the end of this month. As you can see the first sock is done and I have finished up to the end of the heel flap on the second one. It shouldn't take me long to finish these but I had to order more sock yarn in this colorway (darn the luck ;) ) because I only have enough left to finish up to the end of the second pink stripe. Maybe our baby will get a little matching set...
I am also working on the white (and boooring to knit) baby blanket I started a long time ago and, I am very ashamed to admit, my husbands second sock. Poor man, he would love to wear his socks if I would just finish the second one. I just hope I get it done before the end of winter when it will still be cold enough to wear them. I posted about these last two projects in previous posts.

Hello? Anyone in here?

Whew, lots of dust around here!

Despite what it looks like, I have actually been knitting since August. I just haven't taken the time to post it seems. Anyway, I am considering changing the name of this blog to include all my crafty hobbies (not just knitting) but that will take some mulling over. In the meantime here are a few FO (finished object) pictures.

Some socks I made for my sister over the summer. This was my first time making 2 at once toe up socks with short row heels. I like how they turned out!

The sheepy pants longies I was like "this close" to finishing for a long time are finally finished, yay!

Some felted slippers I made for my dad for Christmas.

A WHW wrap I made for the new babe. We recently found out it is a girl so I am thinking the colors are a bit too masculine. I spun the yarn myself, though, on my drop spindle so I am not sure what to do with this right now.

And a hat I made for my brother for Christmas. The yarn is yummy squishy handspun from my Aunt Lyn which I am also making a certain sweater out of for me.

Mmmmm Homespun...

A few gratuitous pic's of my homespun and what I am knitting with it.
First up is my teeny little tea cosy
And second is some lovely Falkland I have been spinning from FatCatKnits.etsy.com which is turning out just lovely.

What I have been up to lately...

First a pair of socks for my Mom's BirthdayOne down and number two about 10% done. Next up is some of my handspun yarn. I am getting better at making the thickness more consistent. I love the color of the blue and white one but it isn't the softest yarn. I will have to think of something creative to do with it.

This yellow is very soft but there is only a tiny bit of it, it came as a free sample with my Drop Spindle.
Purple left over from my first spindle kit.
And finally, I was working on some socks for me with this lovely soft 100% merino sock yarn but I am doing too many sock projects right now so I frogged the sock and decided to make a baby hat out of it. Pattern is from 'Simple 1-2-3 Knitting' .
I also recently picked up this sampler from Knitpicks and I love love love the yarn! I can't wait to start some of the patterns.
